Island of Cheese

In this stunning, beauty and calm island, in archipelago lying in the mouth of Loch Broom, in the Highland region of Scotland there are a lot of interesting food.
But today we will talk about cheese. Handmade cheese from this marvellous island.

" For many years Summer Isles Foods has been smoking cheese but customers kept asking what other cheeses they could order and, with a wealth of small craft cheese producers in Scotland, you can now select from a fine range of Scottish cheeses.

Be aware though some of the specialist cheeses may not be available all the time. Sheep, goats and some organic cow herds may not be able to produce milk or cheese all year round and some of the smaller producers do get sold out of suitably mature cheeses.

With so many cheeses to choose from, you could really have a cheese board to envy! "

As you can see, in this town all the food is handmade. But, what kind of cheese are the most populars? Here you have a little list of what you can find in Summer Island.

"Anster Cheese": is hand-made on the farm – to a traditional recipe – by Jane Stewart, using unpasteurised milk from her husband Robert’s herd of home-bred Holstein Friesian cows.

This new cheese is fresh and dry, with an almost crumbly texture, which dissolves in the mouth to leave a full-flavoured finish.
Perfectly meridages with black wine.

"Lanark Blue": a lovely creamy blue cheese made from Humphrey Errington's famous ewes milk. It is hand made from unpateurised milk with vegetarian rennet. It has a strong flavour and perfect for salads or with Summer Isles Foods smoked chicken in a baked potato.

"Clava Organic Cheese": a delicious soft Scottish Brie. Great in a baguette with Summer Isles Foods smoked Chicken. Ideal for a sandwich, as you can see.

If you go here, remember to eat this exquisite cheeses. And tell us about your experience!
